The merit of chlorination as a mean of eliminating bacteria in water is beyond question and the process is absolutely and universally recognised. In recent years, however, the emergence of resistant bacterial strains, the discovery of Legionella and other problems associated with chlorine compounds have promoted an interest in alternative water purification systems of which ANECO® products are the most important.

The continuous dosing of ANECO® solutions within a pool makes the water safe without the dangerous effects of chlorine and its by-products such as chloramines or trihalomethanes. ANECO® solutions destroy all bacteria, viral organisms, fungi and algae at a neutral pH level between 5 and 7.2.
This is particularly important for the skin of older or younger people as they are more delicate and can be damaged more easily by exposure to chlorine-treated water.

Ensuring that filters are also sterile and decontaminated prevents secondary contamination of filtered water.

The disappearance of the chlorine smell, the absence of burning sensation in the eyes and unpleasant skin reactions make the water a more pleasant environment in which to swim.

Aneco® and Cateco® are produced by electrolysis of water and sea salt in the same way as chlorine, chlorine gas, sodium hypochlorite, sodium hydroxide, hydrogen and ozone.
Unlike chlorine, the most widely used product for water disinfection, the pure, pH-neutral hypochlorous acid (Aneco®) from ANECO® facilities has proven to be much more efficient and complete where even chlorine requires other acid additives to maintain pH. The soda ash produced (Cateco®) is completely natural and, unlike caustic soda, has no disposal costs.
The innovative process used by ANECO® not only improves results, but also requires fewer management and safety solutions with significantly lower costs than traditional treatments such as chlorination, ozonation and UV radiation.




Electrical/electronic part

The ANECO® system consists of an electrolytic cell containing two electrodes, an anode and a cathode, separated by a ceramic-diaphragmatic membrane.
The probable problems of electrode degradation, now found in other similar systems, have been overcome by a unique process of electrical management through complex electronic systems and the quality of the alloys selected over time.
A patented self-cleaning process was designed that minimised the use of acids in cleaning the electrodes, thus guaranteeing a significantly longer electrode life.
The system is managed by an external screen (PLC), which can be controlled remotely if required. The electrolysis cell, or reactor, is the heart of the system. The cell contains a solution of acid and sodium chloride (the classic salt).
The use of diaphragm cells also allows very rapid production of electrochemical products.

Electronic hydrolytic part

The system collects mains water which is combined with brine, the brine solution passes through the reactor generating two products which are fed back into the mains through a dosing pump as required.


The ANECO® diaphragm cell is a round electrolyte reactor made of titanium and rare metals. The electrodes are separated by a polymer or ceramic diaphragm.
Even under severe conditions, hardly any element of the cell can be broken or seriously damaged. The universal diaphragm cell for treating dilute and concentrated aqueous solutions is the heart of any ANECO® unit.


Small and portable, all ANECO® cells have a production capacity ranging from 20 l up to 1200 l of Aneco® per hour. Consequently, with just one eLisy unit we can treat and disinfect from 20 – 12000 m3 / h of water and up to 1200 l / h of Aneco® can be dosed.


In addition to the main electrochemical reaction occurring with the electrodes, the high electric field strength at the electrode surface imparts a degree of electro-meta-stability to the water and its dissolved salts, increasing its ORP in the order of -800mv and + 1200mv respectively in the two flows.
This meta-stable condition remains so for periods of up to 72 hours after treatment and even longer, maintaining an inherently higher reactivity and chemical activity for this period of time and even longer (when properly stored, activated solutions remain highly effective for 6 to 18 months). The significantly higher ORP than in any other product on the market today increases the solubility, dispersive and reactive properties of water and its dissolved salts to an important extent and is a significant indicator of biocidal potential.
The properties of these solutions depend on the electrical characteristics of the feed and the chemical composition of the treated solutions. The pH level of the synthesised solutions is controlled in the pH range 2.5 -13.0, but being adjustable, it can be set for specific parameters.
